Beginner’s Yoga Course

This introduction to hatha yoga course runs over four weeks, 90 minutes per class. The course is designed for absolute beginners and those looking to restart their practice or revise on the foundations of yoga. This is a great place to start if you’re not sure where to start!

Classes progressively build on each other and providing a gentle and accessible way to build strength, flexibility, and mindfulness.

The space offers a supportive and inclusive environment to help you feel confident on the mat, to practice in studio or in your own home.

In this course, you’ll:

  • Explore the basics of philosophy of yoga and practicing yoga in studios

  • Learn foundational yoga poses and proper alignment, including how to move in and out of poses safely

  • Explore simple breathing techniques to calm the mind and bring about focus

  • Experience sound healing and mantra in yoga

  • Develop a practice that nurtures your, mind, body and soul that you can use at any time

Learning the fundamentals of yoga and putting it into practice is both empowering and helps move us toward greater balance and well-being.

The cost for the course is $90 for the 4 classes and there are only 10 spaces available for each term. You can try your first class, obligation-free by paying a $25 deposit. If you want to continue with the course and complete the term, the balance is payable after completing the first class.

Late Registrations

If you’d like to attend the course after it’s started - please contact me by clicking the button below. Each class is charged at pro-rata basis to ensure you are only paying for the classes you attend.

Package

There’s also an option to buy a package of the 4-week beginner’s course and a one-on-one session for $150. This package gives you the opportunity to do the beginner’s course but also have a private session to discuss and explore your personal goals and any concerns you may have.

Cost

What do I need?

No pre-requisites are required or prior experience and all yoga equipment is provided. All you need is to bring yourself, some comfortable, light and stretchy clothes, an open mind and heart.

If you have any injuries, concerns or are pregnant - let your teacher know before the class.

Preparing for class

  • Bring a towel if you need to

  • If you have your own mat and feel more comfortable with your own mat - feel free to bring your own

  • a bottle of water

  • ensure you’re well hydrated before class

  • Make sure you eat no later than 2 hours before class, a lighter meal is more suitable for practising yoga

What to expect

In this course - we will explore an introduction to a broad range of practices in hatha yoga, including:

  • Sharing circles

  • The basics of yogic philosophy - we touch on what is yoga and where it comes from

  • The benefits of yoga

  • Practising yoga in studios - customs in yoga and how to move safely

  • Key foundational asana (poses) with attention to proper alignment and positioning

  • Body awareness and developing balance

  • The fundamentals of the breath in yoga and marrying the breath with movement

  • Mantras, mudras and integrating sound into yoga practices

  • Mindfulness and meditation

Students will get print outs to take home and practice their learnings at home.

A regular yoga practice develops strength, flexibility, mindfulness, helps align our posture and balance. You might feel more calm, have better sleep, increased energy and an overall sense of wellbeing.

Why a beginner’s class?

To solidify your knowledge and give you confidence to practice in and out of class safely. A beginner’s class is a welcoming, supportive, compassionate space which gives you opportunities to ask questions and explore the modifications which are suitable to your body. In these classes, we go into more detail than an ordinary class, giving you a stronger foundation on yoga, alignment and awareness of your body, mind and breath.

Beginner’s classes are a perfect way to start a new, life-changing practice, meet like-minded individuals in your local community and experience transformation in your body and mind.
